Network Platforms has four datacentre environments across South Africa in Johannesburg, Centurion, Cape Town, Durban and two international datacentres in London. This level of connectivity and capability assures you of high-quality capacity across both local and international networks.

We offer very competitive rates between the datacentres at Teraco in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban as well as between Hetzner Centurion and Teraco Johannesburg with a protected service of dual fibre routes for redundancy.

Network Platforms has international connectivity options through un-contended international routes with Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) options. This ensures you have higher connectivity performance levels and superior capability for your organisation. You receive protected international Layer 2 connectivity alongside customisable solutions which can be adapted to fit specific client requirements.

Currently we have capacity on WACS, EASSy, SAT3, Seacom, SAFE, SACS and MONET.


About Peering Exchanges

Network Platforms peers at NAPAfrica, JINX, CINX, LINX, DE-CIX, AMS-IX and DINX.

These peering points, also known as Internet eXchange points (IXPs) are physical infrastructures which allow Network Platforms and other ISPs to exchange traffic between their networks. The direct interconnection via an exchange delivers lower costs, lower latencies, improved routing efficiency and fault tolerance and access to high-quality bandwidth.

Peering exchanges are beneficial for even more reasons:

  • Traffic which travels through an exchange is usually free, while traffic to an ISP upstream provider is not. Reducing the portion of ISP traffic which needs to move through an upstream transit provider means a reduction in the average per-bit delivery cost.
  • This cost saving is then passed on to the customer – you.
  • The closer the peering point, the fewer the hops required to access packets of data on other networks. These may be spread out across other cities and the world so, if there are fewer networks to cross, latency is reduced and data has less chance of being caught in congestion.
  • It’s a superhighway of far greater efficiency than any one in Johannesburg…
