Networks may be classified according to a wide variety of characteristics and we deal predominately with WAN’s (wide area networks) and LAN’s (local area networks).

Local area networks (LAN) are the backbone of a network. Should this back bone not have the capacity to run your network traffic effectively, this will result in packet drops and an unstable network.

Wide area networks (WAN) are communication networks that cover a broad geographic area. For different applications to function correctly over a WAN, the correct amount of bandwidth is required. For example, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP): if there is not enough bandwidth, the caller experiences jitters or call break up.  Network Platforms will ensure the correct communication type and bandwidth is installed to ensure a fast transport method.

We have implemented a management system for our ADSL customers that allow us to upgrade router firmware at a moment’s notice on a very large scale.

Should you require more bandwidth we can load balance multiple connections. For example if you have three ADSL lines and one Diginet line we can send web traffic down one line, VPN traffic across two line and email down the Diginet. We can also control the connections’ speed down to a user level, so if the technical department or the directors require more bandwidth than the sales department, we can facilitate this.
