Leased Lines (Diginet)
Diginet is aimed at larger business. Our bandwidth is sourced
from multiple vendors, enabling us to change vendors, should
we discover that the vendor is over-subscribing their bandwidth,
this in turn allows Network Platforms to assure their clients,
of quality bandwidth available to them.
This is also set at a fixed price depending on the speed
you require.
We provide all necessary equipment, allowing us to customize
the configurations to suit your needs.
ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber
Line)
With the introduction of ADSL, you can now get a flat fee
service at 4 times the speed of ISDN, so you don’t
get any unexpected bills at the end of each month. ADSL is
restricted in regards to the size of your network. It’s
aimed more at small businesses with 30 nodes or less on your
network. The current speed of ADSL in South Africa is 512
Kbps download and 256kps upload.
The upload speed would only ever come into play if you
were hosting a web site on your network. ADSL being a permanent
connection, it is recommended that you run a Firewall or
have some security policy in place. With the new legalisation
of Voice over IP, we are currently importing equipment that
will allow you to make voice calls to your remote offices
using your ADSL connection.
ISDN (Integrated Services Digital
Network)
Is a dialup service which can be configured to run at 64kbps
or 128kbps.
If both B-channels are used simultaneously to create your
128kbps connection, you are charged for 2 calls.
ISDN is generally used in small networks or to connect
from home to your office. It is still visible to run ISDN,
if you don’t require a lot of bandwidth and are not
spending huge amounts of time online.
